What Wix does well

Wix hosts your site, runs its software updates for you, and says its pages arrive with their words already in them, so search engines can read them in full.

Wix also says its sites are open to AI tools as well as search engines. It keeps search engines up to date on your pages and your business details. Change a page's address, and Wix points the old one to the new one by itself, except on blog pages.

If Wix does what your business needs, those are good reasons to stay.

Where Wix limits you

A Wix site can only run on Wix, so the site itself can't move anywhere else, and Wix has no way to export blog posts.

Wix's help center says a site has to be hosted on Wix's servers to work, because it's built with Wix's own technology. It's just as clear that "the content you build on Wix belongs to you." What you can't take is the site itself.

Blog posts are the other limit. Wix says, "Currently, it is not possible to export blog posts to other platforms." Wix's blog feed for other apps holds only your 20 newest posts, so the rest get copied over, by you or by us with migration.

Your own photos and videos download a folder at a time. There's no button to download them all.

Moving off Wix brings your words, your own photos and videos, and spreadsheets of your products, contacts, form entries and lists with you, and leaves the design, Wix's own photos and any digital products behind.

Comes with you

  • Your words. With no site export, they're copied over from your live site or written up from your video call.
  • Your blog posts, copied over by you, or by us with migration.
  • The photos and videos you uploaded, a folder at a time.
  • Your products, contacts, form entries and any lists you built in Wix, as spreadsheets you keep.
  • Your web address, if you have your own. It can stay the same, and we go over it with you.
  • Your old links. Every old page on your web address, like /about or /post/your-post, points to its new page. That comes with every build.

Stays behind

  • The design and layout. The new site gets its own.
  • Free photos and videos from Wix's own libraries, which Wix says can't be downloaded. If a page leans on one, plan on a replacement.
  • Digital products. Wix says exporting them "is not currently supported."
  • Your store. We don't build online stores, but we can point you to someone who does. A plain link to a checkout or booking page you keep using comes with the build.

What moving off Wix costs

Moving off Wix to Two Scoops Web costs a fixed build price, $1,500, $3,500 or $6,500, and if you want us to move your content, that's quoted on top after a free look.

Discovery holds 6 pages, Publisher 12 and a blog, and Coverage 24 and a blog, plus home, about, contact, terms and privacy. A blog needs Publisher or Coverage. A bigger site is Custom.

The price holds with nothing moved for you. Wix has no site export, so your words come from what you tell us. You talk for about 30 minutes on a recorded video call (two calls on Coverage) and fill in a short form. We write it up, and you bring the photos.

Each build is paid half to start and the rest before the site goes live. Keeping it online runs about $20 a month, and we set that up for you. The full breakdown is on what a website costs.

If you'd rather we move your content, that's migration. The work depends on how many pages, old addresses, photos and forms your site has, so we look at yours for free and quote the move before you sign.
