Moving off Squarespace
Two Scoops Web builds your business a new website to replace your Squarespace site, designed for you and built so Google and AI tools can read it. Fixed price for the build, from $1,500. If you'd like your words and photos moved over for you, we quote that after a free look.
What Squarespace does well
Squarespace sets every site up for phones and handles the basics search engines look for, with nothing extra to install, according to its own help center.
It keeps a map of your pages up to date for search engines. It marks your headings so they can follow how each page is laid out. Pages get plain addresses that don't change, like yoursite.com/about. And every web address connected to a Squarespace site gets a free security certificate, the padlock in the browser bar.
If Squarespace is doing what your business needs, those are good reasons to stay.
Where Squarespace limits you
Squarespace limits what you can take with you: its export carries only some of a site's content, and photos can't be downloaded all at once.
Squarespace says many of its features depend on its own code, so some content doesn't export. What does export comes out as one file. Store, portfolio and calendar pages stay behind, and so do your style settings.
A Two Scoops Web site can move. If you ever decide to go it alone, we move everything to you or anyone you choose.
What you get when you leave Squarespace
Moving off Squarespace to Two Scoops Web gets you a new site designed for your business, built so Google and AI tools can read it, and looked after by us if you want.
Designed for your business
It's made to look good and be easy to use, on a phone or a laptop.
Fast and secure
Pages open quickly on a phone, and we tell you when a security update is needed.
Readable by Google and AI
Your prices, hours and services stay in the page itself, where Google and AI tools can keep reading them.
A way in for every visitor
Your email address, a contact form and, if you take bookings, a plain booking link. Anyone can use them, including an AI assistant working for your customer.
Calls and form fills
You can see where each one comes from.
Looked after, if you want
With Care, we check the site is running as it should and make one change a month that you ask for.
No one can promise you a spot in Google or in AI answers, and we don't.
What comes with you and what stays behind
Moving off Squarespace brings your page text, one blog and your photos with you, and leaves the design, any store and some kinds of pages behind.
Comes with you
- Your layout pages, with their words and photos, and one blog with its posts. Squarespace exports them in one file.
- Your photos, saved one at a time.
- Your products and contacts, as spreadsheets you keep. Form entries can come too, depending on the form.
- Your web address. It can stay the same, and we go over it with you.
- Your old links. Every old page address, like /about or /blog/your-post, points to its new page. That comes with every build.
Stays behind
- Portfolio, calendar, album, index, cover and info pages. Their words can still be copied over.
- Any blog after the first, plus drafts and video, audio and product blocks.
- Your style settings and custom styling. The new site gets its own design.
- Your store. We don't build online stores, but we can point you to someone who does. A plain link to a checkout you keep using comes with the build.
Your Squarespace site stays up until the new one goes live, so there's time to save every photo.
Old addresses, new pages
Example: a made-up site
- /our-services.html/services
- /about-us/about
- /contact-us/contact
What moving off Squarespace costs
Moving off Squarespace to Two Scoops Web costs a fixed build price, $1,500, $3,500 or $6,500, and if you want us to move your content, that's quoted on top after a free look.
Discovery holds 6 pages, Publisher 12 and a blog, and Coverage 24 and a blog, plus home, about, contact, terms and privacy on every build. A blog needs Publisher or Coverage. A bigger site is Custom.
The price holds with nothing moved for you. You talk for about 30 minutes on a recorded video call (two calls on Coverage) and fill in a short form. We write it up, and you bring the photos. If you send us a Squarespace export, we work from it too.
Each build is paid half to start and the rest before the site goes live. Keeping it online runs about $20 a month, and we set that up for you. More on what a website costs.
If you'd rather we move your content, that's migration. Some of a Squarespace site doesn't export, and every site has its own count of pages, old addresses, photos and forms, so we look at yours for free and quote the move before you sign.
Tell us about your Squarespace site
Fill in a short form about your business and your Squarespace site, and we'll set up a video call about which build fits.
